Self-guided city walks, at home and around the world

Street Whisperer supports cultural discovery beyond France. Start with our London and Charleston journals, or explore Paris, Lyon and Geneva. The website suggests stops for planning; in the app, discover available places around you, listen to their stories and ask questions in your language.

01

London: choose one district rather than the whole city

Our suggestion focuses on the City: start outside St Paul’s, continue to The Monument and finish near the Thames. It combines façades, the memory of the Great Fire and a closer look at a monument. Find the guide and place story in the journals below.

Looking for another theme? The City’s visitor information centre also offers themed self-guided walks. Its official routes and our suggestion are separate planning resources; choose around your interests.

02

Charleston: walk from historic streets to the waterfront

For a first outing, our guide connects the City Market area, Rainbow Row and Waterfront Park. It distinguishes looking from outside, private homes and ticketed visits. The Waterfront Park story also shows how a waterside garden can tell a story of urban change.

Look beyond Charleston’s façades: choose a complementary cultural visit around your available time. For the International African American Museum, check its own visitor information and keep a separate block of time from the walk.

How do you use the app in a new destination?

Download Street Whisperer before travelling, select your language and open nearby discovery when you arrive. Start with a place actually listed, read its introduction, then start its story or ask a question. Compare the explanation with visible details and available references.

Coverage depends on local data; every place is not available. Creating new stories and voices needs a connection. Website suggestions are not automatically imported into the app. Generated content may contain errors: check opening times, access and essential information with the venue.

04

How should you plan a discovery in your language?

The journals below are available in English and French using the EN/FR selector. The 15 languages apply to the app, rather than every website page. When visiting abroad, keep the local venue name and address too: they help with transport searches and checking where you are.

Paris, Lyon and Geneva remain accessible through our walking routes and walk finder. The new destinations have their own journals. Choose a compact area, then add a stop only when your time and outing conditions allow it.

Your questions, answered.

Is Street Whisperer only for France?

No. The app supports international discovery according to available local data. The website is gradually adding destination guides; a guide does not guarantee an in-app story for every place.
