How do you open Street View on desktop?
In Google Maps, search the address and select a photograph with the Street View symbol. Alternatively, drag Pegman onto a coverage line or point. Move your view to locate your reference, then exit the preview to return to the map. Google describes these steps in its official help.
To prepare a visit, note one reference: museum façade, street corner or square name. Decide where you will meet and how you will recognise your walk’s start. Here a street image helps with orientation; it does not decide whether one place merits the whole outing.

How do you see a street on an Android phone?
In the Google Maps app, search the place or drop a pin, open its details and choose the Street View photograph if present. Use arrows to move and swipe to look around. Return to the map after locating your start. Screens can vary by version; Google’s Android help is the reference.
Make your checks when you can stop. Prepare the meeting address before travelling, then look at signs on site. Your phone can help you recognise the area; the walk’s first observation begins when you look up.

Can a preview establish an entire walking route?
Google Maps offers a walking mode. Choose it when finding your route, then consult available previews. Older imagery does not establish that a passage is open or show today’s works. On site, signs and genuinely open routes determine your journey.
For your needs, check stairs, entrances and opportunities to rest separately with venues. A camera angle does not establish a route’s accessibility. Prepare an alternative and turning point: the aim is a walk suited to your time, not a perfect reproduction of a virtual view.

How do you move from Street View to discovery with Street Whisperer?
Street View lets you look at imagery in Google Maps. Street Whisperer is an independent app for discovering nearby places, listening to their stories and asking questions. There is no affiliation with Google or automatic import of a Street View route. Use one to locate your start, then choose a place to discover in the other.
Our walk finder helps you choose a place or route from the website guides. Then download the app to explore around you; 7 visits and 7 questions are included once for free. A connection is needed to generate new stories. Website pages remain separate planning guides.
Your questions, answered.
Why might a street not appear in Street View?
Coverage and available imagery vary. Check coverage markers in Google Maps; absence of a preview does not by itself establish pedestrian access.
